How to get involved in Synchronized Skating

Synchronized skating is one of the fastest growing ice-skating disciplines since its introduction in the mid-1950s. Synchronized skating is now competed and participated across the world and the benefits of taking part in this sport are proving that it has so much more to offer than first portrayed.

At the start of 2020 British Ice Skating saw the Britannia Cup unfold at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham. The elite standard on show was down to hours on hours of training and commitment from all the skaters, this showed in their performances as the whole world watched on as BBC streamed the event to all parts of the globe.

The dedication to synchronized skating doesn’t have to be life changing to gain the benefits, many skaters of all ages and ability levels take part in an hour a week at their local Ice-skating club. Clubs and rinks will also have other sessions available if you want to increase the amount of skating you would like to do. As you can imagine the physical benefit of ice skating is clear but what else can synchronized skating offer? Many Skaters expressed their increased socialising opportunities and friendships made of all ages while being part of their club, increased skill development and a huge contribution to mental health attributes plus much more. Synchronized skating has created more than just a discipline but an Ice skating community which has huge support from all involved.

In many rinks across the country there are synchronized skating clubs operating and are keen to get more people involved. From never stepping on the ice before to a current or ex skater we encourage everyone to get in contact and find out the next step to joining your local club (club details below).
