A sneak peek into the new Website and Database!

Work continues behind the scenes on both and new website AND a new database, which will revolutionise the ways-of-working at British Ice Skating and open up a host of possibilities for the future.

We have been working with industry-leader Sport:80 on developing their platform to meet the needs of ice skating as we modernise and invest in systems that will benefit our members and our business in the short-, medium- and long-term.

A test profile, with all roles, memberships, tests and qualifications in one place

While this is still in development, we are pleased to share that the platform will support the activities of skaters, parents, coaches, clubs, rinks and test centres, with individual access and the ability to manage the data that we hold sitting firmly with the member or parent/guardian of the member if they are a minor.

Clubs will be able to have their own website with integrated relevant data hosted free-of-charge.  This will enable them to post their own news articles, have greater visibility to existing and prospective members, and to work closer together with British Ice Skating on providing transparent and accessible information about the sport at a local and national level.

Both clubs and rinks will also be able to list events to appear on the new British Ice Skating website, as well as advertising what sessions and programmes they run.

Clubs and Rinks will be able to assign roles to individual users of the platform

Further, both clubs and rinks will be able to have the status of 'Test Centre', meaning that where there exist multiple test centres within a rink, these can be kept separate.

Having a relationship-based organisational structure will help define roles and permissions

This platform will be linked directly to the new website, giving live information to Club Finders, Coach Finders and Rink Finders.  This will serve not only the existing membership, but also remove the hurdles for those looking to try ice skating, pointing them in the right direction at the very start.

Once the Test & Membership structure is set up, phase two will look at Event Entries, tying a member's record with their entry, and greatly reducing the amount of paperwork to complete, as well as making the tasks of the Organising Committees so much easier!  More details on the Events Module will follow closer to the time.

British Ice Skating are incredibly excited about these projects, and look forward to rolling them out to the membership over the coming months!
