Last week over 20 NISA skaters were representing Great Britain across two international events, with several achieving a top 10 score.
The week began with the 28th Volvo Open Cup in Latvia, from 4th to 8th November, with a total of 17 NISA skaters competing against skaters from across the globe.
Josh Brown, 16 and based at Nottingham Ice Centre, was the only skater representing Great Britain in Junior Men and victoriously finished 2nd behind 1st place Russia. Josh appeared in the successful CBBC Ice Stars documentary and has recently been featured as one of our One’s to Watch ahead of the British Championships in December.
Elsewhere in Basic Novice Girls, the competition for the top spot was tough with only a few points between 1st and 10th place. Abigail Wagstaff finished overall in 4th place with a score of 37.23, only slightly behind 1st place Estonia with 38.56. Close behind was Christie-Ann Shannon who finished in 8th place with a score of 34.70.
The latter part of the week saw our ice dancers take to the ice at the NRW Trophy, from 6th to 8th November in Germany.
Junior Dance couple Katia and Lucas impressed the judges with their free dance routine and was placed 2nd. They finished 5th overall with a score of 122.23 and were less than a point behind 4th place Ukraine who scored 122.66.
It has overall been a great week for many of our NISA skaters and we would like to congratulate all of those involved in both events.
