On October 3rd & 4th, the new NISA co-hort of AASE athletes attended their induction weekend at St George’s Park Hotel in Burton on Trent.
Over 100 athletes from swimming, diving, synchronised swimming and water polo joined the ice skaters at the induction weekend. The skaters attended workshops which covered goal setting, mental skills, technical and tactical analysis along with physical skills.
On Saturday evening, the skaters got dressed up and attended a formal three course meal and awards ceremony for previous AASE athletes. They also listened to speaker Cassie Pattern, the 2008 bronze Olympic Open Water medallist on how she overcame her struggles and made the necessary changes to ensure she achieved her dream of competing and medalling at the Olympic games.
2015 Senior ladies solo ice dance champion Bethany Armitage had this to say about the weekend;
"It was a really great experience. The athletes and coordinators were all really nice, I also got to meet some skaters (and swimmers) that I otherwise wouldn’t know. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know people who are all in a similar situation to me and we all got on really well"
