The club closed in 1991, the public outcry created by the announcement was enormous. Ice rink supporters took to the streets of Bradford, demonstrating the rink’s importance to the immediate and wider community, as the only ice skating facility in West Yorkshire. With press and television backing, a petition with over 4,000 signatures was presented to the City Council in the hope of winning a reprieve.
Krystyna Roberts spearheaded negotiations with the rinks former operators and took out a new lease in 1991. She has been at the healm of operations, managing the rink for the last 25 years and is now proudly seeing the facility reach this fantastic 50th anniversary milestone.
