Our British Adult Skating team returned triumphant from the 2017 Swan Challenge in Bled this weekend, with an impressive medal haul in disciplines across the board.
The British team achieved 27 Gold medals, 23 Silver and 16 Bronze across the event which ran from the 2nd of November to the 5th.
The event was the 2nd Swan Challenge, with the first being held back in 2016, and included Ice Dance, Free Skating, Pair Skating, Artistic and, for the first time, Solo Dance.
The event saw skaters from at least 19 different countries perform on the ice, all with sights firmly set on podium places at the prestigious competition.
Britain was strongly represented, with 57 GB Skaters performing at the competition in total. A full competitor and results list can be found here.
As well as sinking their teeth into the heavy competition, the British Team were also able to make the most of a seminar which was ran by seasoned British Adult Competitors and NISA Accredited Coaches David and Pat Arnold.
David Arnold said: “The competition was fierce, but everyone skated so well. The organisers also ran it like clockwork, and the friendliness displayed between skaters from all over the world was fabulous to see.
“The seminar was also a big success with over 50 skaters joining us to sharpen their skills and take part.
“As well as giving a big thanks to the organisers and volunteers, the team would like to give a shout out to Fiona Brown, who stood in at the last minute to do a fabulous job of judging the Dance sections of the competition.
“All in all this was a very successful International Adult Competition, which has only run for 2 years. Its fast growth is testament to an international passion for Adult Skating, which is increasing rapidly.”
Here at NISA we’d like to congratulate all competitors for a fantastic medal haul, and for representing Britain brilliantly on the international stage.
