In the first day of competition at the ISU European Figure Skating Championships, Danielle Harrison and Phillip Harris were in action representing Great Britain.
The competition opened with the Ladies’ Short Program and first onto the ice was 16-year-old Danielle. With tough competition from returning European medallists Elena Radionova and Anna Pogorilaya of Russia, Danielle scored 40.68 for her performance, placing her 29th in the Short Program.
Also in action yesterday and returning to the European Championships for a second year was Coventry’s Phillip Harris. After his Short Program performance the 26-year-old placed 18th with a total segment score of 63.93. Needless to say, competition is tough with reigning European Champion Javier Fernandez (ESP) back and aiming at a fourth consecutive title.
Phil will be back on the ice later today and will perform his final Free Skate.
2014 European Bronze medallists Penny Coomes and Nick Buckland will also be performing today. After withdrawing from the 2015 European Championships due to illness, they are looking forward to returning to the European stage.
