Today was the final day for The Dresden Invitation Cup and our skaters were competing in the 777m.
Jennifer Pickering raced through to the finals against skaters from The Netherlands, Sweden, Poland and Germany achieving a new personal record along the way. It was in the semi-finals that the record was achieved with a time of 1.12.599 leaving her 11th in the 777m and 16th in the competition overall.
For the men’s 777m Josh Cheetham took the lead for Great Britain coming 11th. He was quickly followed by Murray Cochrane who placed 12th in the race. Alongside Josh and Murray in the 777m were Jack Burrows and Jonathan Moody; all four of these skaters achieved personal records in the distance.
The two-day competition has seen all six of the GB Short Track skaters achieve new personal bests. For some, they were able to secure more than one. Murray showed great promise for the season ahead taking a personal record in each 500m, 777m and 1500m and placing 16th in the competition overall.
Now the team will be heading home for some well earned rest before going back to training for their next competitions. The next fixture for GB Short Track will be the Holland Invitation Cup which takes place on the 10th and 11th of October.
