Name: Danielle Harrison
Arena: Dundee Ice Arena
Coach and Choreographer: Debi Briggs, Simon Briggs and Andrew Smith
On the ice:
Who/what inspired you to step onto the ice and what age? When I was six years old a family friend recommended to my mum that I should try out skating. This was because I was always full of energy and she didn’t know what to do with me. I was enrolled onto Skate UK programme and I’ve never looked back!
How did you get into figure skating? A local coach spotted me in the rink and invited me to have some private lessons. I got more involved with figure skating and decided to compete in the sport.
How many hours do you train a week? I train for 18 hours on-ice and five hours off-ice.
What do you consider your greatest achievement in ice skating? I won the Junior Ladies British Champion title in 2014. Also representing Team GB in the European Youth Olympic Festival and the Junior World Championships is also a great achievement!
How many times have you competed in the Nationals? I have competed in four British Championships and this will be my fifth.
Do you have a skating hero you look up to? I really admire Elena Radionova and Gracie Gold, their skating styles are so elegant and they really are inspirational to watch.
Off the ice:
Other than skating what do you like to do in your spare time? I do love to sleep and have a cheeky nap a lot of the time, but when I’m not sleeping or skating I like relaxing and watching Netflix. I also love to shop!
One thing you can’t live without and why? FOOD! I just love it and could eat all day. I don’t know what I would do without it!
Favourite band/music: Little Mix and Taylor Swift
Favourite film/TV programme: My favourite films are Toy Story and Frozen and my favourite TV programme is Coronation Street.
Fun fact: I’m obsessed with unicorns!
