Today (Wednesday 25th March), Amani Fancy and Chris Boyadji hit a season's best in the Pairs Short Programme to take the last qualifying place for tomorrow's final at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Shanghai, China (25th to 28th March).
The National Ice Skating Association’s (NISA) World Class Performance Manager, Robin Cousins said: “After injury and surgery on Chris's elbow, it's been a tough season but Amani and Chris fought hard for that place and despite Amani having to hold on to an unsteady landing on the Throw Triple Jump, they showed great determination. I know it will boost them going into tomorrow's final Free Programme.
“In one of the strongest fields for many a season, they have made the World Championship final.”
Things were not so good for Olivia Smart and Joe Buckland who missed out on qualifying for a place in the Free Dance following a fall in the Twizzles.
Robin added: “Obviously Olivia and Joe had set themselves a target to qualify and they are bitterly disappointed but this is their first Senior World Championships and this experience, whilst not what we all wanted for them, will serve them well moving forward.”
