GB Short Track’s younger skaters close the season with the Europa Cup Final

This weekend, some of GB Short Track’s younger skaters will compete in the final event for the season, the Europa Cup Final in Budapest, Hungary.

The competition which will take place from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th March closes the 2015/16 Star Class series as well as the season as a whole. Eight skaters from Great Britain will compete against both Western and Eastern European skaters this weekend with five skaters from the World Class Programme in Nottingham, and three of the best uprising talents from Nottingham Ice Racing Club and Aldwych Speed Club.

Skating from the World Class programme will be senior skaters Kathryn Thomson who was recently crowned overall Star Class 2015/16 ladies champion with eight medals in the series; Billy Simms who has had three overall top ten finishes in the Star Class 2015/16 series; and Josh Cheetham who has had six top eight finishes in the Star Class series this season.

The top ranked Junior skaters from the British Championships,  Jennifer Pickering and Jonathan Moody, will  also compete in the Junior A and Junior B categories this weekend.

Joining the World Class programme skaters will be senior skater Gemma Cooper from Nottingham, as well as Junior C skater Solomon Prempeh, and Junior D skater Theo Collins from Aldwych.
