Junior GB figure skaters return from competitive week in Bratislava

Junior figure skaters Kristen Spours and Graham Newberry returned to the ice at Lee Valley yesterday following a competitive week at the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating in Bratislava in Slovakia.

The pair flew out to Bratislava with their coach Christian Newberry. After the competition, he said:

“Graham and Kristen should be pleased with their hard efforts throughout the week. Despite not achieving the results we had hoped for, it has made both of them even more determined and already we have been rehearsing on the ice ahead of their next big competition.”

Kristen was placed 21st in Junior Ladies at her very first major international competition and Graham came 13th in Junior Men.

Christian added: “For Kristen it was her first major international competition and it could be said that nerves got the better of her. As for Graham he was disappointed that an unfortunate land from the very difficult triple axel affected the rest of his performance. Nevertheless, both skaters have their heads held high and it’s onwards and upwards.”

The International ISU Junior Competition took place from 18th – 22nd August and is part of the series that is comprised of seven international events, plus the ISU Junior Grand Prix Final which will be held in December.
