There has been some speculation amongst NISA members around the court case involving Gordon Barnes, a former Short Track official.
NISA takes its responsibility to safeguard children and vulnerable adults extremely seriously and we work very closely with Statutory Agencies whenever we are informed of allegations against our members.
In the case of Mr Barnes, once we were informed we took immediate action to ensure safeguarding of our members in accordance with our safeguarding policies and procedures, in conjunction with the statutory agencies.
This case was not in any way linked to Mr Barnes' activities in ice skating.
The safety and wellbeing of our members and athletes is paramount and we will continue to do everything we can to create a safe environment for everyone involved in all ice skating disciplines.
