We're encouraging clubs, rinks, coaches and skaters to set up and attend a coffee morning as part of Macmillian's 'World's Biggest Coffee Morning' this September.
Rinks across the UK run casual skate and coffee morning sessions on a regular basis, so it makes sense to get the ice skating community banging the drum for a great cause!
We’re supporting the charity, which works to offer a source of support to people diagnosed with cancer, to promote one of their biggest fundraising events of the year.
There are now 2.5 million people in the UK living with cancer. By 2030, it will be 4 million people, and Macmillan aim to be there for all of them.
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning will take place on the 29th of September, but Macmillan are encouraging supporters to run coffee mornings across the entire month.
Getting involved is easy. Whether you’re a skater, coach, parent or rink manager, you can help by arranging a coffee morning at your local rink in September.
Rinks can jump aboard by promoting a special Macmillan fundraiser with baked treats alongside a regular coffee morning, or as a stand alone event to encourage skaters, friends and family to come and enjoy a coffee and a chat for a great cause.
Coaches, parents and skaters should first consult their local rink about the possibility of bringing in some baked goods to raise money for Macmillan as part of a coffee morning.
Once a day and time is settled, simply register for your kit and get going. You can register for your coffee morning kit here.
It takes around two weeks to arrive, which gives you plenty of time to start spreading the word and recruiting some helpers.
