This weekend (14-16 November) Great British figure skaters Penny Coomes and Nicholas Buckland, brought home a bronze medal after their performance in the Rostelecom Cup ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating 2014/15. The event, which took place in Moscow, Russia, saw some of the best figure skaters in the world compete for a podium place.
Coomes and Buckland delivered a strong performance this weekend, receiving a new personal best score of 98.47points in the Free Dance and 158.02 points overall. Their performance, which incorporated difficult and innovative technical elements, earned them a well deserved bronze medal.
Buckland commented on the win: “We were very pleased with the result and the score. We really love our free dance this year and so it was important to us to do the programme justice. We wanted to show the audience and the judges that we have done something new for this season.”
The Rostelecom Cup is the fourth of six events in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. The world's top figure skaters are competing for points towards the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in Barcelona (ESP) in December.
The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating continues this week (21-23 November) with Trophée Eric Bompard in Bordeaux, France.
