PAIRS

The pairs discipline of figure skating sees two people skating in unison to perform movements in perfect harmony with one another...

Pairs figure skating is mixed gender and consists of two parts; the short program and the free skating program.

Skaters are required to complete seven required elements that make up the short program. The elements change with new seasons and typically include a combination of lifts, jumps and spins.  The free skating program is a well-balanced program composed and skated to music of the pair’s own choice. Again, the free skating program should include spins, lifts, jumps and other similar moves that are harmoniously linked.

Skaters can be marked down by the judging panel for a variety of violations which include falls, timing, music, and clothing.
