HONORARY LIFE MEMBERSHIP AWARDS

Two key figures in British short track were announced as recipients of BIS Honorary Life Membership Awards at the 2024 Annual General Meeting last December, and officially received their awards during the Championships.

We would like to take this opportunity to reiterate our gratitude to Jon Collins and Mandy Worth for everything they have contributed to the success of the sport.

APPLAUSE FOR PETER WORTH

A moment was also taken at the Championships to recognise the achievements of Peter Worth, who was honoured with an MBE in this year’s King’s New Year’s Honours list!

We are incredibly proud of the recognition he has received for his years of dedicated service to Short Track Speed Skating. Volunteering as a club coach and chairman to serving on technical committees and refereeing at domestic, national, international, and Olympic levels, his contributions have been monumental.

Peter’s exceptional reputation as the leading referee in Short Track Speed Skating has led him to officiate men’s events at the Sochi, PyeongChang, and Beijing Winter Olympics. He is now using his expertise to guide and develop the next generation of elite referees for the International Skating Union.

Thank you to everyone involved for another successful Championships, and good luck to all racers taking part in further competitions over the rest of the 2024-25 season!
