We are pleased to announce the appointment of Allison Dowling as the new Independent Chair of the British Ice Skating Board.
Allison joins us with a wealth of experience in corporate affairs and strategic policy, including extensive work on brand development and the building of partnerships and communication strategies. Alongside her career in senior leadership positions across a diverse range of industry sectors, she has spent more than 12 years in Non-Executive Director roles on Boards for both corporate and charitable organisations, with a proven record of achieving positive change.
Currently the Chair of the 2026 European Figure Skating Championships Steering Group, her interest in ice skating is long held. Having spent many years rink-side supporting her family’s involvement in ice sports, Allison brings a strong understanding of the ice skating community and the immensely positive impact that sport has on so many. She is committed to working with Board colleagues to support the BIS Executive team in the delivery of our organisational ambitions, and to growing the legacy of ice skating in the UK.
The Independent Chair of the British Ice Skating Board is responsible for providing inclusive leadership to the association as a whole, overseeing the delivery of our overarching mission while ensuring effective and robust governance. Allison will take up the post early in the New Year.
On the appointment, BIS President Robin Cousins noted:
“In our recruitment for a new Chair of the Board, we were keen to appoint an inspiring leader who could support our ambition of continuing to take British Ice Skating to new heights - we are confident Allison will do just that and are all looking forward to working with her going forward. We would like to congratulate her on her appointment and wish her a warm welcome to the team.”
