Become a Technical Specialist: Recruiting Now!

We’re excited to be actively recruiting new Technical Specialists for singles figure skating, with training and exams to take place 24th and 25th July 2025.

Have you ever thought about being a figure skating Technical Specialist?

Technical Specialists ensure all elements and their level of difficulty are correctly identified during a competitive performance. As a Technical Specialist, you’d be a key part of supporting the continued evolution and growth of ice skating in the UK.

We’re kicking off a new education programme for Technical Specialists (Singles) this July and we’re recruiting now for new candidates!

You might be an ex-competitor looking to stay involved in the sport you love, or a parent of a skater who’s seen the ins and outs of more competitions than you can count – whoever you are, this could be the next step in your ice skating journey.

Who Can Become a Technical Specialist (TS)?

Any British Ice Skating member over 18 with a high level of understanding of the skating discipline involved, who meets ISU eligibility criteria.*

If you’re not sure whether you have the right standard of knowledge to become a TS, we’ll also be recruiting for Data Replay Officers (DRO) soon. DROs are another important role, and can also be a good stepping stone to becoming a TS – you can apply for this now and we’ll be in touch as soon as more information is available.

How Do I Apply?

To apply to be a new Singles Technical Specialist, you just need to complete our online application form (if you’re interested in other Official roles you can highlight these at the same time!)

What Happens Next?

Your application form will be reviewed to assess your suitability for joining our upcoming training progamme. We’ll then be in touch with further information about training, exams and next steps.

Qualifying as a Technical Specialist includes exams and mentoring procedures alongside ongoing education and development provided by British Ice Skating: Find out more.

So if you love figure skating and want to be a part of the evolution of our sport, why not consider becoming a Technical Specialist?

*ISU Eligibility: this is governed by Rule 102 of the ISU’s Constitution & General Regulations (pg. 89).

We’ll be looking to recruit new Technical Specialists for other figure skating disciplines soon, too – you can submit your application for these now (or highlight your interest in them on your application form to become a Singles TS) and we’ll be in touch as soon as more information is available!
