British Ice Skating has partnered with Wiistream to create a new online streaming platform that will become the home of live ice skating in the UK.
BIS TV will give fans and skaters a platform to watch figure, synchro and speed skating from the comfort of their own home.
The online streaming hub has been unveiled a week before the British Figure Skating Championships, with the pinnacle of the British figure skating calendar to be broadcast in full on the online platform. Those wishing to watch every skate from the national championships will be able to tune into live action and gain access to unlimited on-demand content for just £9.99.
Day passes will also be available for £6.99, allowing people to pick and choose their favourite moments of the competition.
Michelle Draper, CEO of British Ice Skating, said: “For all those that enjoy watching ice skating this is a huge moment.
"We’ve invested in a way to broadcast ice skating straight into homes across the country.
"You will now be able open your laptop or login from a phone to watch live action from the very best of the British skating calendar”
The site, accessible through www.tv.iceskating.org.uk, will also be available to viewers outside the UK.
Draper added: “We’ve worked with Wiistream to create an easily accessible platform that will allow us to broadcast our competitions and events throughout the season. Fans from across the world will be able to sign up to the platform, helping to give British skaters a global audience.”
Mike Price, Chairman and Co-Founder of Wiistream, said: “Wiistream are excited to announce our partnership with British Ice Skating which commenced 6 months ago and has now culminated in the deployment of BIS TV in advance of the British Figure Skating Championships.
"It has been great to work with Michelle and her colleagues to help bring this innovative cutting-edge technology and platform to their members and supporters across the UK and Internationally.
"These are indeed exciting times for British Ice Skating and Wiistream and we look forward to a long and mutually beneficial partnership for both organisations.”
A simple sign up process will ensure it takes just seconds to access live action, with just an email address required to create an account.
