British Royals Set Their Sights on World Tour's Grand Finale

This season's ISU Short Track World Tour has been a thrilling showcase of speed, skill, and determination, with the British Royals truly living up to their name!

The Tilburg leg of the tour saw intense competition, with the British Royals facing off against top skaters from around the world. The Dutch crowd brought an electric atmosphere, with fans cheering loudly for their favourite skaters. While the British Royals didn't secure a podium finish in Tilburg, their performance was commendable, and they gained valuable experience that will undoubtedly serve them well in future competitions.

“The team has been working really hard at home throughout this season. Slowly but surely, we are edging our way closer to being truly competitive on the world stage, and it’s starting to show. It’s a really exciting time for our Royals team; we are building momentum and building on some strong performances in World Tour 5. The first day didn’t go exactly to plan, but Niall demonstrated just how strong he is by qualifying back into the main event through every distance, which is not an easy feat and, if I am correct, is the first time that has happened before. He then skated his way into two B finals with some very credible performances. Along with Niall, Annabelle sped her way into the main event in the 500m, with her blistering start proving too much for the repechage. And finally, the relay was a fantastic way to culminate the weekend at World Tour 5, finishing 7th place overall and competing against some of the world’s best teams in the main event and B Final.” - Head Coach Richard Shoebridge

Niall Treacy is currently ranked 12th in the 1000m World Tour Standings and will be competing for a top 10 finish in the season's final World Tour event in Milan, Italy. This event will also serve as a test run for the 2026 Winter Olympics. The men’s relay team has shown exceptional progress this season, establishing themselves as strong contenders on the world stage. With their sights set on a spot at the World Championship, they currently hold 9th place.

“It’s nice to solidify our training and hard work with some great performances. It shows things are going in the right direction towards the back end of the season. We will look to continue to refine our performances one last time in Milan, the Olympic test event, before heading to the World Championships in Beijing.” - Head Coach Richard Shoebridge
