Bronze medal brilliance at Finlandia Trophy

Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson won an Ice Dance bronze medal at the Finlandia Trophy to cap an impressive competition for GB skaters.

The couple were awarded 74.78 in the Rhythm Dance on Saturday before returning on Sunday to score 115.61 in the Free Dance. Their total of 190.39 was enough for a place on the podium behind French couple Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron (217.54) and Madison Chock and Evan Bates of America (208.31).

Anastia Vaipan-Law and Luke Digby made their international debut as a Pair on the opening day of the competition. A 45.79 in the short program followed by 86.77 in the free skate was enough for 12th place.

Both Natsha Mckay and Karly Robertson were in action in the women’s event. Robertson’s short program was awarded 51.83, good enough for 19th at that stage. McKay sat in 14th after the short program thanks to a score of 57.26.

McKay was then awarded 105.28 in her free skate to finish 15th , Robertson ending in 25th place after her free skate score of 65.48.

The Finlandia Trophy is the fourth competition of the 2020/21 ISU Challenger series.

The Series was established by the International Skating Union (ISU) during the 2014–15 season and the events consist of a group of senior-level events, ranked below the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating.
