Great Britain's Lilah Fear & Lewis Gibson begin their 2026/27 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating campaign this weekend at Skate Canada International in Kelowna, British Columbia.

The two-time Olympians and 2025 World bronze medallists lead a ten-team ice dance field at Prospera Place, with the rhythm dance on Saturday 31 October and the free dance on Sunday 1 November.

Fear and Gibson

Back where it started

Kelowna holds a special place in the pair's story. It was here at Prospera Place in 2019 that Lilah and Lewis won their first ever Grand Prix medal, taking bronze at Skate Canada. They have since added Skate Canada silver in both 2022 and 2023, and gone on to become the most decorated Grand Prix ice dance team Great Britain has ever produced.

That record includes World Championship bronze in 2025, Great Britain's first world medal in ice dance since Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean in 1984, along with back-to-back bronze medals at the ISU Grand Prix Final, four consecutive European medals and eight British titles. Last season they won the NHK Trophy in Osaka and took silver at the Grand Prix de France, before claiming their second Grand Prix Final bronze in Nagoya.

New cycle, new programmes for Fear & Gibson

Skate Canada is the pair's first Grand Prix of the new Olympic cycle. Lilah and Lewis train in Montreal under Marie-France Dubreuil, Patrice Lauzon and Romain Haguenauer, and opened their season in September with victory at the Bolero Cup in Sheffield, giving home fans a first look at two brand-new programmes.

This season's rhythm dance theme is "Rhythm and Waltz", and the pair have gone for a fiery flamenco-inspired routine featuring music from the Gipsy Kings. Their free dance brings the glamour of the Moulin Rouge to the ice, skated to Shirley Bassey's "Get The Party Started" and "The Sparkling Diamond" from Moulin Rouge! The Musical.

The field

They face a strong field in Kelowna, including France's Evgeniia Lopareva & Geoffrey Brissaud, Canada's Marie-Jade Lauriault & Romain Le Gac, and the American teams of Caroline Green & Michael Parsons, Oona Brown & Gage Brown, and Katarina Wolfkostin & Dimitry Tsarevski. Lilah and Lewis will be the last of the ten teams to skate in the rhythm dance.

The road to Chongqing

Skate Canada is the second of six events in the Grand Prix series. Skaters earn points for their placings, and the top six teams across the series qualify for the ISU Grand Prix Final in Chongqing, China, from 10th to 13th December. It is a quick turnaround for Lilah and Lewis, whose second assignment, the Cup of China in Shenzhen, follows just a week later from 6th to 8th November.

Schedule (UK time)

  • Rhythm Dance: Saturday 31st October, from 21:20. Lilah and Lewis skate last, at approximately 22:32.

  • Free Dance: Sunday 1st November, from 22:15. The skating order is set by the rhythm dance result.

Kelowna is seven hours behind the UK.

How to watch

In the UK, both segments will be streamed live on the ISU's YouTube channel, Skating ISU, with live results on the ISU results website.
