GB Short Track Speed Skating Performance selection event announced

A short track speed skating selection event will be held at the National Ice Centre, Nottingham on 16th September to select the GB Senior Performance Squad for the 2022/23 season.


The event will run on 16th September as an open event, under ISU/BIS racing rules. There will be races in the 500m, 1000m and 1500m


Skaters who wish to enter will have to pay an entry fee of £30.


In order to enter skaters must meet the eligibility criteria set out below:

Skaters must be born before July 1st, 2007 (Junior B and above)

Minimum Standard

Women (only need one of these times):

  • 500m – 53.17

  • 1000m – 1.52.82

  • 1500m – 2.54.82

Men (only need one of these times):

  • 500m – 50.07

  • 1000m – 1.43.46

  • 1500m – 2.43.02

All entrants must also:

  • Have a current BIS membership;

  • British passport or Clearance Certificate to skate for GBR

  • Hold Full Eligible status as per BIS Eligibility rules, published on www.iceskating.org.uk

  • Adherence to BIS General Rules, Codes of Conduct and any Athlete Agreement applicable to the individual; and

  • Not be serving any suspension relating to Anti-Doping or disciplinary offences.


How to enter:

All skaters must be entered through their club, with payment made directly to the club. The entry closing date for the event will be 12th September at 5pm.

The BIS 2022/23 STSS International Selection Manual will be published in the coming weeks. Skaters, coaches and club officials are invited to join a BIS call (week commencing 5th Sept) to talk through the selection process for this season that includes:

  • World Cups

  • World and European champions

  • Junior Worlds

  • World Uni Games

  • European Youth Olympics Festival
