The GB Short Track Speed Skating Performance team has today been officially announced.
Niall Treacy who made his Olympic debut in Beijing is one of seven men to make the squad. He’s joined by brother Ethan, Theo Collins, Kyle Ross Waddell and Branden Marshall. Peter Riches who set a British record in the 3000m at the British Championships will feature. Adam Hill who raced at the European Youth Olympics in March also joins the team.
Holly Hoyland and Charlotte Hayward both secure places in the squad.
The team was confirmed after a day of racing in Nottingham as part of a selection event.
Head Coach, Richard Shoebridge said: “I was really pleased with the performances at the squad selection.
“The hard work that the team have been putting in this summer is really paying off. The team are all bought into the journey and vision of what we are trying to achieve.”
The first World Cup takes place in Montreal from 28th-30th October, before moving on to Salt Lake City on 4th November.
Shoebridge added: “I’m very excited to see where we are in comparison to the rest of the world. We’ve got a young, motivated team who are raring to go, and for some of them it will be their first World Cup experience which is a huge honour in itself. They will get to feel the pride of wearing GB colours at their first international competition, which is a massive moment for them.”
