Cornelius Kersten, who joined Team Worldstream in the summer, set a new 500m personal best and national record at the Trainingswedstrijd Topteams meet on 2nd October. His time of 35.60 beat his previous best of 35.72 set four years ago in Calgary.

Ellia Smeding went under 40 seconds in the 500m for the first time, skating 39.71 to better her own personal best of 40.01 that she set in August.

Gemma Cooper opened her season with a 9th placed finish in the Mass Start at the International Race meet in Inzell on the 3rd October.

The season builds up to the first World Cup that will take place in Poland on 12th November. Four World Cups in Poland, Norway, Germany and the USA will act as Olympic qualifier events for the Beijing 2022 Games.
