Resignation of Rob Jones as British Ice Skating Chair

British Ice Skating hereby announces the resignation of Chair Rob Jones.

Rob has been in position since June 2018 and has presided over a time of great transformation and success at BIS. Among those developments are the relocation to Sheffield, the appointment of Michelle Draper as permanent CEO, the first live-streaming of domestic Championship events in two decades, the establishment of a new governance structure including Technical Advisory Committees, and countless sporting highlights from our Young Stars all the way up to Senior Grand Prix events.

Outgoing BIS Chair, Rob Jones

Rob said: “I am delighted that I have been able to both offer stability to the company and help develop Ice Skating in the UK. I believe that I have achieved the objectives which I set for myself and feel that the time is right to hand over the Chair of this great sport. We have an excellent staff and a new and very effective Board, all of whom will continue to work hard for the benefit of the membership. It’s been great fun – thank you Ice Skating!”

President David Hartley will hold the position of Acting Chair until Rob’s successor is appointed and had this to say about Rob: “Coming in at a very turbulent time, Rob’s experience, personality and skillset have been invaluable in helping the Association and the sport. We are in a much stronger position now than when Rob was appointed, and we can all look forward to an exciting future. Thank you, Rob, for your commitment and contribution to British Ice Skating.”
