Honorary Life Membership Awards
Awarded annually to recognise and thank members who have contributed to the success of British ice skating in an outstanding manner. The recipients announced were:
Mandy Worth for over 30 years of dedicated support and service to British short track. From competing as an athlete herself to running the Nottingham Ice Racing Club and serving as the GB Coach for multiple Junior and Senior international events and much more, she has constantly contributed to the growth and success of the sport.
Jon Collins became a short track Starter over ten years ago and has quickly risen through the ranks for ISU Officiating and is now on the ISU Championships list as an Assistant Starter, while consistently and generously contributing his time and expertise to the success of domestic competitions.
Janet Girdwood for supporting the progression of a multitude of skaters via her voluntary position as Test Organiser at Dumfries, a role she has held since 2015, playing an important part in maintaining figure skating opportunities in the south of Scotland.
Lorraine McLatchie has been a figure skating official since 2003, providing her time and expertise to help deliver endless competitions and test sessions over the past 21 years. This work has played a vital role in the grassroots development of figure skating and the delivery of competitive opportunities for so many skaters.
We are incredibly grateful for everything Mandy, Jon, Janet and Lorraine have contributed to the growth and success of British ice skating over the years.
Thank You to David Hartley
Special mention was given to David Hartley, BIS Head of Development, who stepped up to fill the Chief Executive Officer role on an interim basis before Maggie Still took up the post in October. His hard work and dedication - all while juggling his dual responsibility as the Event Director for the ISU European Figure Skating Championships Sheffield 2026 - kept the BIS Team motivated and on track and we are very grateful!
Resolutions Passed
The meeting included two resolutions for members to vote on - one approving the minutes from the 2023 AGM, the other appointing new auditors. Both resolutions were passed, with UHY Hacker Young LLP appointed as auditors for the next financial year.
2023-24 Annual Report and Financial Accounts
The 2024 Annual Report and Financial Accounts are now available for members to view; an update from the Independent Non-Executive Director for Finance, Abigail Hughes was also provided summarising the status of the latest audit and accounts.
